Bluebird in Spring

A beautiful image was captured by photographer, Doug Hazard, who generously allowed me to use it as a reference. I wanted to paint it as soon as I saw the vivid colors of this Eastern Bluebird against the rich pinks and red violets of the Japanese Magnolia. This scene is the epitome of springtime in the South.
